I bought the 1 1/2” rope, it’s a very pretty looking rope.It does smell a lot to whatever lubricant they put on it, I don’t mind if want to use outside, but, since I’m using it inside of the house I do care.I guess the ticker the rope the more smells, I tried letting it outside for a few days, didn’t work a lot. Finally I decided to let it soaking in water with a lot of detergent for a day and then let dry, this worked more but not completely, finally I put inside a container and poured a lot of baking soda to absorb the odor for a couple of days, this worked better but not 100%, but, with all these and since it lost it’s lubricant, the shining when away.I tried all these because I really liked it, like I said at the beginning, it’s a very good looking rope.Bought this for my cats scratching post. Very durable.Bought it to refining cat scratcher. It does have some smell, however cats don't mind it, and it seems they enjoying their scratcher even more.This is a great rope. I used it too make a piling deco for a prom, but the chemical smell was overwhelming. I will be putting it out by my pool afterwards and all should be good outside. I loved the color, and size. The rope was very showy.Good quality ropeI bought this rope to try out on some mock deer scrapes. First thing I noticed when I opened it up was the strong smell of petroleum. I wanted a natural hemp rope but I feel like I received a gasoline soaked hemp rope. Would that still qualify as natural? We’ll see, time will tell. I’m going to put it out on some mock scrapes and let the deer decide. I’ll update my review if they start hammering on it.Lastly, I purchased the 1” and it is super thick. I had just bought a 3/4” rope for a tree swing over our pond. Compared to this 1” rope, there is a fairly large difference and it’s over 1/4”….Just exactly what I neededThe rope I received had one of the three strands a lot thicker than the other two, making uneven and ugly splices. Not choice rope for teaching splices.My fault .. I didn't pay close attention to description saying "cordage oil is applied" and that it was recommended for outdoor use. Just sharing.I bought it for making wrapping a pillar inside my house for cats to scratch on .. can't use it for that! it smells way to strong to use inside and likely toxic to the cats tooI love this Rope. It is of really good quality and strong. I'm sorry I will only be using it for decoration instead of a swing or lifting like it was intended. I will be wrapping 2 posts on my pool house to keep with the nautical theme of my back yard. I got the 1 inch rope and it will work perfectly. And the price was great compared to others.I have purchased sisal rope from other suppliers in the past, and was expecting a similar product based on the picture, description, and price. While this rope is strong, it sheds a lot, the fibres stick out all over the place, and the colour is much darker than the product picture. The rope works for my project, but had I known the true colour of this rope, I would not have bought from this supplier.This rope was MUCH smaller than other ropes I ordered that were half inch. This rope is the one on the left. A half inch hemp rope I ordered is shown on the right. It is 0.55 inches thick whereas this rope is only 0.46 inches thick.Bought this to replace a broken outdoor scratch post. Since I live in Canada that hasn’t happened yet, but I couldn’t store this in the house as it smells of Gas/diesel. Horribly to the point husband changed his clothes twice. ????
